Preschool Program
– Program Overview
The Roxbury Day Care Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization providing full-day and part time child care for children whose parents must work, attend school, or who for some other reason cannot care for their child on a daily basis.
The Center serves 91 children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Children are grouped in teams based on ages and individual developmental levels. Each team is staffed with a Lead Teacher and Teacher Assistants as needed to support the appropriate staff:child ratio.
The Preschool Center is housed in a newly constructed building on Righter Road in Succasunna. The building consists of five classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a kitchen and office areas. A state-of –the-art security system monitors the safety of the children at all times.
Outdoor play areas are provided separately for preschool children and for infants and toddlers. Children play outside every day that the weather permits.
Individual eating and sleeping schedules are followed for Infants. The Center provides nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack for all children ages 1 year and older.
The curriculum provides for a mixture of quiet and active activities for each age level. Activities offered include large motor skills, small motor skills, pre-reading/literacy skills, math/number skills, self-help skills, creative expression/art skills, music and movement skills, social skills and science and nature.
The Center’s funding is provided by a contract with the State of New Jersey, the United Way of Morris County, the Child Care Food Program, Morris County Human Services Administration (the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders), parent fees, grants and donations.
Client fees are based upon the family’s gross annual income and family size. A sliding fee scale enables low and moderate income families access to quality child care at a fee that they can afford.
